Preceptorship Program (Package 1) [Link to top]

2-Day Visit
Maximum of 6 Registrants / Session
(Cost: Canadian $475; hospital observer privilege application fee)


This unique program affords visitors the opportunity to learn and observe ultrasound guided regional anesthesia techniques at the Toronto Western Hospital (TWH), Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Over the course of 2 days (approximately seven hours per day), you will be able to:

  • Network with prominent specialists in anesthesiology, observe them in action, and discuss cases of interest with them
  • View the set up and function of the regional anesthesia procedure facility, operating rooms, recovery room and day surgery unit
  • See the latest in regional anesthesia equipment and procedures
  • Meet with colleagues to discuss challenging cases encountered in modern regional anesthesia practice.

Please note that all surgical observations are dependent upon that day's operating room schedule.

At the conclusion of your visit, you will be presented with a certificate of participation.

Participation in this program is extremely restricted due to space limitations. If interested, you are urged to make your selection as soon as possible.

Day 1 07:30 Arrival to TWH and meet at the Anesthesia Dept. located on the 2nd floor McLaughlin Wing, room 407 (take Centre Elevators to 2nd floor and turn right when you exit)
08:00 Observe clinical demonstration of hands on ultrasound guided techniques
13:00 Lunch on your own
14:00 Observe clinical demonstration of hands on ultrasound guided techniques
15:30 End of day 1

Registration Process:
Register early for guaranteed attendance!
Registrations are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. Registration forms are accepted by Mail or Fax.

Fees must be paid in full at the time of registration.

Cancellation/Refund Policy:
The full registration fee less $100 administration fee will be refunded, if written notice of cancellation (e-mail or fax) is received no later than 21 days prior to the workshop date. No refund for cancellation less than 21 days. Registration may be transferred among colleagues or be applied to a future course within one year. In the unlikely event that a course is rescheduled or cancelled, pre-paid registrants will be given the opportunity to transfer to a future course or may receive a full refund. The course organizer will not be responsible for any travel and/or lodging reimbursements.

This education event has been approved as an Accredited Group Learning Activity under Section 1 of the Framework of CPD options for the Maintenance of Certification Program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada for 14 hours (2-day) and for 28 hours (4-day).

Driving Directions:
Take the Gardiner Expressway, exit on Spadina Avenue and travel northbound to Dundas Street. Make a left (westbound) until you get to Bathurst Street. TWH is on the northeast corner of Bathurst and Dundas Streets.

Public Transit:
North and South: Bathurst Streetcar The most convenient subway station is Bathurst Subway. Take the streetcar going south, to Dundas. If you are coming from the south, take the Bathurst Streetcar north to Dundas.

East and West: Dundas Streetcar From the Dundas Subway Station (at Yonge), take the Dundas Streetcar west to Bathurst.
