Point of Care Ultrasound Course 2026 [Link to top]

This 2-day hands on point of care ultrasound course is offered to physicians & any allied healthcare providers who wish to acquire ultrasound skills for the following applications:

  1. Focused transthoracic echocardiography (TTE)
  2. Lung imaging
  3. Gastric assessment for NPO status
  4. Focused Assessment with Sonography in Trauma (FAST)
  5. Airway & diaphragm assessment
  6. Optic nerve sheath diameter (ONSD) measurement

This comprehensive BASIC point of care ultrasound course consists of two components - 1) 8 hours of self-guided online learning modules developed by USabcd and 2) 2 days of in-person hands-on training.

At the end of this course, participants would have acquired basic knowledge of ultrasound imaging for airway assessment, lung imaging to evaluate hypoxemia, ultrasound imaging to evaluate gastric content and volume, focused ultrasound assessment in trauma and focused TTE to aid in the differential diagnosis of shock states in hemodynamically unstable patients.

This course has a number of distinguishing features.

  • comprehensive peripoperative POCUS course including cardiac and non-cardiac applications relevant to the perioperative period
  • a “flipped classroom model” with approximately 8 hours of self-guided online e-learning training prior to in person hands on learning
  • the online perioperative POCUS e-learning modules are developed by USabcd that includes cardiac, lung, gastric and abdominal (free fluid) ultrasound assessments
  • short introductory presentations followed by longer hands-on scanning sessions
  • 8 + hours of hands-on practice
  • low attendee to faculty ratio (5:1)
  • interactive sessions with friendly faculty and ample time for Q&A

Early registration is encouraged. The Saturday-Sunday course will accommodate to a maximum of 40 registrants with a 4-5:1 registrant to instructor ratio. Registration fee will include pre-course online POCUS e-learning modules and breakfast, lunch and refreshment on Saturday and Sunday.
