This contest ends at 11:59:59 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on December 31, 2012. Entries
submitted after the close of the contest period will not be judged and will not be eligible for the
2012 prize.
All submitted abstracts must be original. Participants must not use materials belonging to third
parties or copyrighted. Such entries will be disqualified.
Submitted materials must be in the English language only
Materials that have been published in a journal (peer reviewed or non peer reviewed) within the past year are eligible for submission for this contest. However, pictures and videos submitted must be original and not copyrighted.
Video submissions must not exceed 2 minutes in length.
Participants may submit more than one (1) entry per person during the entire contest period.
All submitted materials must NOT contain any personal information that identifies the patient subject.
Submissions that include obscenities, objectionable material, defame or invade the publicity or privacy rights of any person, living or deceased, or otherwise infringe upon any third party's personal or proprietary rights will NOT be posted on the contest website and/or will be disqualified from the contest.
Submissions shall NOT contain materials that promote or advertise commercial products for a company.
Once entered, submitted material content must not be altered or edited in any way.
Submissions must not have been previously entered in any competition or contest or won any award prior to entry into this contest.
Submissions which do not meet entry criteria, as determined by the contest organizer, in its sole discretion, will NOT be accepted.
By participating in this contest, entrants grant permission for the contest organizer to post on the Internet the submission for the public to access and view whether or not such entry is determined to be a potential finalist or the potential winner.
Posting of your submission on the www.usra.ca website does not necessarily mean that your submission is eligible for and entered in the contest. The contest organizer is not responsible or liable if the contest website becomes unavailable, deletes participant's submission due to technical difficulties or for any other reason.
The submitted material will not be returned to the entrant.
Submissions as determined by the contest organizer in its sole discretion, or are otherwise in violation of these Official Rules will be disqualified.
Submissions will be assessed by a panel of judges. While the judges are asked to keep their findings in confidence, WE CANNOT GUARANTEE CONFIDENTIALITY. Therefore, if this is of concern to you, please wait until your invention is protected by a patent before entering the competition.
Submissions will be rated by the viewers. The top 10 entries as rated by the viewers will be eligible to be the finalists for the Ultrasound Innovation Award Abstract Contest.
There will be a limit of one vote per email address per day.
Each entrant may vote for his/her own submission.
The 10 finalist materials will be then judged by a panel of experts on the following features:
In the event of a tie to determine the winner, the tied finalist who submitted the
entry with the higher/highest score in "Originality" among the tied finalists will
be declared the potential winner. In the event of a further tie, the tied finalist
who submitted the entry with the higher/highest score in "Creativity"
(and thereafter in "Content" if necessary) will be declared the potential winner.
The entry that receives the highest point total, as determined by the contest organizer will be declared the winner. The name of the winner will be announced and posted on www.usra.ca in early 2013.
The winner will receive US $1,000 (in the form of a check issued in the winner's name).
The contest organizer will not replace a lost or stolen check.
No substitution or transfer of prize is permitted for any reason.
Prize notification will be announced on the www.usra.ca website.
If the winner cannot be reached after 5 business days, if he/she is found to be ineligible, if he/she cannot or does not comply with these Official Rules, and/or if the prize or prize notification is returned as undeliverable, the potential winner will be disqualified and an alternate potential winner may be selected at the organizer's sole discretion.
